Near the Freight Terminal of the Interport, at the edge of Gonfienti’s archeological area, there stood a large-scale building of the Roman Imperial age (1st-4th centuries CE), which was subdivided into rooms that face onto a large central court (39 x 23 meters). To this complex, situated just south of the ancient Via Cassia road-bed, near the stretch in which the Tabula Peutingeriana records the presence of the ad Solaria way-station, are connected a small artisanal zone and two cremation burials, dating from the 1st century A.D. The two tombs were installed within simple trenches dug into the terrain. One of them was probably marked by an amphora, while the other was graced with a tombstone.
