In the Gonfienti “Mulino”
restoration laboratory, the materials of Gonfienti are restored, in particular
the Etruscan ceramic dining table and pantry artifacts, and the terracotta
elements of the roof of the courtyard portico within the Etruscan residential
building. This edifice has undergone a long and patient project of
re-composition and re-integration.
A
diagnostics laboratory is also active, where analyses are carried out on
numerous objects found during the research work at Gonfienti, both from
proto-historic and Etruscan to Roman times.
An antefix in the shape of a feminine head inserted in a shell shaped
frame was found in the debris of the roof of one of the buildings. It was
decorated with radial grooves and it was probably located, together with three
other examples, on the corners of the internai portico in order to join the trapezoidal
roof tiles.
